The legendary Ann and Nancy Wilson

Saw a documentary on them this summer. (ETA:HA!!! Here it is!!! It came out in maybe the early 2000s. HEART - Behind the Music Part One,Part Two, Part Three and Part 4) A big round of applause to Heart! Both sisters are serious multi-instrumentalists and sing, but Ann Wilson is known for the powerhouse vocals, while Nancy Wilson does sweet sweet things to the guitar:)

Heart is a rock band whose founding members came from Seattle, Washington, USA in the early 1970s.^{[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]} Going through several lineup changes, the only constant members of the group are sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson.^[10] The group rose to fame in the 1970s with their music being influenced by hard rock as well as folk music. After diminishing in popularity for a couple of years in the early 80s, the band enjoyed a massive comeback in 1985, experiencing further successes with their power ballads and pop hits throughout the rest of that decade and into the 90s.

I think I'd better stop here or we'll be here all night:) One of the extremely irritating thing is that Ann Wilson's weight is such a big deal! Tons of men are overweight, Meatloaf comes immediately to mind, but no-one cares about that, just their talent! While Ann's weight obscures her talent because women are first and foremost ornamental, don'cha know! We must first look conventionally beautiful, and THEN anything else about us comes in! Oh GOD!

It took me a while to get it in my head that just because I was personally not a fan of a band, it didn't mean that they weren't talented. :) And yeah, folk does seem to be able to get way more women in it than rock music does. Maybe its because its less corporatized and the music is considered "soft" and thus more appropriate for women?
