So I made a couple of Bjork icon bases and want to share them because it seems like few iconmakers have good Bjork icons. Feel free to take, edit and use; credit to me is not necessary. I do ask, however, that you avoid hotlinking from my Photobucket or posting these elsewhere.

So I wanted to take part in the "playing their instruments" icon challenge forever ago, but it's really hard finding photos of female drummers when you're pretty ignorant as to what names to google. But then!! I found TOM TOM MAGAZINE, a magazine about female drummers (omg I love it), which posts a lot of awesome pictures and videos and other good stuff on its blog. Anyway, it's too late for the contest, but --

Teasers:

A woman drumming on a set, her afro lit up by stage lights. A woman baring her teeth as she drums on a set. Closeup. A woman drumming on a set in blue light, her hair blowing in front of her eyes.

See them here at [community profile] gosh.

(There are some non-playing icons in there too, but I guarantee no generic sexyface.)

Mankind is Obsolete - Still right here

Natasha Cox has been the front woman for industrial band Mankind is Obsolete from 2002. She seems to play guitar and possibly keyboard as well, if the icons below are to be believed.
Icons right here

I think my favourite icon of the batch above is of her singing in a blood stained apron, which now currently decorates this post:)

[community profile] three_weeks_for_dw is a period of time in which we post stuff only to dreamwidth in an effort to celebrate Dreamwidth anniversary and up our content. It started last year and was a great success and so the fest is starting up again this year from April 25th to May 15th!

I would love for our community to join the celebrations! Got any cool women-identifying rockers you wanna highlight? Got some icons or posts or videos or art or meta or concert/other event review to drop in? How about doing it then?

And here are some banners and icons with which to celebrate. Does anyone feel like making a banner and or some icons for our comm?

Welcome to the Inaugural Monthly [community profile] rocknroll_n_blues_queens icon challenge!!!! The prompt?

"Women-identifying performers playing their instruments"

I don't know bout you, but my soul (and my icon collection) is CRYING OUT for more pictures of women playing their instruments. I am SO TIRED Of music magazines posing women with static "sexyface"  while ignoring the dramatic artistic potential for epic shots of women blasting their music all over the place. Whether they are drumming, keyboarding, guitaring, bassing, violining, harpischording, or even singing, if they are in a rock band and they are in the midst of rocking out... bring on the icons! Make them dramatic! Make them pretty! Play with filters. If you can manage to grab still shots from music videos, that would be epic!  The time frame is one month. Make a post whenever you feel like it. And there is no pressure, really. If you can't do it in a month, post whenever you are ready.  Let the iconning begin! Have fun!!!!
