Andrea Alvarez - Doble A
Bio
Andrea Alvarez is both a popular and an avant-garde artist.
She was the first female percussionist and drummer - we can also say the only one so far- who participated deeply involved in the scenes of national rock music, performing a central role. She formed the first women rock band together with Maria Gabriela Epumer and Claudia Sinesi (Rouge) and the first great success in this genre: Viuda e Hijas de Roque Enroll.
As a professional musician, she participated in important events together with national and international renowned artists. Charly García, Divididos and Soda Stereo are but a few of the local names included in the list below. At an international level, she played with Celia Cruz, Tito Puente and Alex Acuña.
Due to her perfectionist spirit, she studied with several teachers in Argentina as well as in the United States, where she lived for three years. Lito Vitale, Horacio Gianello and Fernando Martinez in Argentina; Johny Almendra, Frank Malabe, Kenwood Dennard and Madeleine Yayodele Nelson in the States. She studied composition at Universidad de la Plata and vocals with Iris Guiñazú, Amy Grumwalt and Esteban Sielicki among others.
Andrea is also a teacher and shares her knowledge with hundreds of students (most of them women) who are inspired and encouraged by her talent and creativity. She also performs workshops for the products she sponsors: Latin Percussion, Paiste and Evans. MORE
