Singer Manik fronts this retro-pop outfit from Indonesia. Its bloody hard to find much info in English on the group, and it doesn't help that a singer from Belgium and a world music folk/jazz outfit from Norway also share the same name. But, we got Twitter and Facebook and some youtube. And I did find a paragraph from Last FM

Biography from Last FM

- Founded on January 2nd, 2000 in [place]Bandung[/place], [place]Indonesia[/place]. The band originally consists of Manik Purwakrishna (vocals), Iyan Sopiyan (drums), Erwin Januar (bass), and Mufti Syarief (guitars), but as of 2006, Erwin Januar left the band. The band has released several albums: "Penggalan Kisah Lama" (2001), "Dua Musim" (2002), "Menanti Pagi" (2003), "Menanti Pagi Repackaged" (2004), "Indah Pada Waktunya" (2005), and a single "Membekas Di Hati" (2007) which is included in a compilation album from various artists titled "Singles Tersayang 2007".MORE

Equinox Digital Music Distribution
is a apparently resource for music from Indonesia, including them. And apparently they are on Itunes as well.

you know her as VV from "The Kills". Or as "Baby Ruthless" from the supergroup "The Dead Weather". Or dueting with "Placebo" on their single Meds. If you don't know her at all, then lets go back to the beginning with her first band, a punk band. "Discount".

Sarah Jones is the Woman who drums for New Young Pony Club and Bat For Lashes 2009 touring band:

Feature on Female Drummers from Mike Dolbear - Sarah Jones

Have you noticed any issues with gender in the music industry?

Erm, yes! When I was playing metal I’d always get lots of big, massive men saying ‘your bands gonna be shit cos you’ve got a girl drummer’. I think it’s so funny cos they don’t realise that it makes you work harder and if they realised that they probably wouldn’t say it. But just little things like doing photo shoots with new Young Pony Club and we did an interview with Q I think it was. You do a photo shoot so you go and wear something that you like and you’re a girl, you might wear some make up. He came in and the first thing he said was ‘oh so it’s all about the clothes then’, no hi or anything, ‘it’s all about the clothes and the make up’. Well no actually, it’s a photo shoot, we are girls, this is what we do but come and see us tomorrow when we’re playing a gig and it’s not like this. It’s just so annoying that if you do wear a sparkly dress or something then it’s ‘oh you’re all about that’.

Saw a documentary on them this summer. (ETA:HA!!! Here it is!!! It came out in maybe the early 2000s. HEART - Behind the Music Part One,Part Two, Part Three and Part 4) A big round of applause to Heart! Both sisters are serious multi-instrumentalists and sing, but Ann Wilson is known for the powerhouse vocals, while Nancy Wilson does sweet sweet things to the guitar:)
