"When I first came out it wasn't embraced as much, you know, a black girl doing rock and roll."
SING IT, SISTER
When Fefe first came out with the awesome "Bye Bye Boyfriend" my sister and I were so worried that her success would be limited to Canada, and even that mostly due to Canadian Content rules that meant she'd get airplay -- as she said, a black girl doing rock? And doing it GREAT? How would white people wrap their heads around that?
I'm so glad she's making a stronger resurgence, because she is fucking FIERCE and our music scene could do with more women like her. Go Fefe!
