I think I first paid attention to this genre when I heard
Karen Elson - The Ghost Who Walks
But today I got curious and googled murder ballads and got interested in the genre. (Here's the TV Tropes page. Fair Warning. TV tropes will suck you in)
Latitude x Longitude Suicide by Annie
Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue - Where The Wild Roses Grow (Original Video).avi
Tori Amos - 97 Bonnie And Clyde (as a response to Eminem)
Kate Bush - The Kick Inside
Gertrude 'Ma' Rainey - Stack O'Lee Blues
Ike and Tina Turner - Stagger Lee and Billy
Florence and the Machine - Heavy in Your Arms
Joan Baez - Mary Hamilton
Its a kinda creepy genre, and most of the victims seem to be women, at the hands of violent men. And in Clannad's case first a jealous sister then the men she asked to rescue her
Clannad - Two Sisters
Does anyone else like the genre? What are your favourite songs?
