Country: Brazil
History: 1987 – 1996
Status: Inactive
Style: Thrash Metal
Biography:
Great Brazilian metal band, formed in Brasilia with Mila Menzer (bass), Karla Carneiro (guitar), Ana (drums) and Eliane (voice).
The latter two will not last long in Volkana, being replaced by Marielle Loyola (voice) and Debora (drums), coming from the bands Detrito Federal and Arte No Escuro. With this lineup they moved to Sao Paulo in 1988 to record the demo “Thrash Flowers”, which contained only two songs and gave them some recognition.
Two years later they recorded their first album called “First”, with a punk-influenced thrash style. They hired a drummer, Sergio Facci, as Deborah had left the band shortly before recording. Pat joined the group, but she also left the band soon afterwards. Due to the failure to find another female drummer, Sergio became an official member of Volkana, which ceased to be a full female band.MORE
