Myspace They are gonna tour the US starting March, bb's!!!

Wikipedia

First known as a girl band, Le Butcherettes was created by vocalist/guitarrist Teri Gender Bender who later recruited drummer Auryn Jolene to complete the duo. Quick acclaim was achieved in the Mexican underground scene for their live act which included both of them dressed in a 50's women fashion referring to women being slaves in home chores, using brooms, feather dusters and bloody aprons.[2] Teri Gender Bender would also use artificial blood, flour, eggs, meat and a real pig head all over the stage, interacting with the public most of the time. [3]

The quick recognition of the band led them to win the award for "Best New Artist" and "Best Punk Record" in the Indie-O Awards 2009.[4] A difference on the band's direction led Auryn Jolene to abruptly leave the band claiming the end of it leading to media confusion.

Conspiracion Urbana arises on January 2008 with members from Jiquilpan and Sahuayo, Michoacan, Mexico. This Band starts with Psycho Monkey´s ideas (Guitar-Vocals) and Mad (Guitar-Backing Vocals). The next joining the project was Merrick (keyboard - synth) beginning as bassist, until August of that year Majo comes as support for live shows, and eventually became an official member. The last arriving to the band is T-800 wich would stay as drummer , place formerly occupied before by Psycho Monkey. Thus, Conspiracion´s Urbana alignment would be complete.MORE

mixing cumbia with punk rock: Kumbia Queers

Kumbia Queers- Chica de calendario

Macha Mexico: Conversation with the Kumbia Queers

After meeting at the Belladona festival in Buenos Aires in late 2006, five Argentine girls and one Mexican got together to experiment playing cumbia, and the Kumbia Queers were born. Although they’ve been playing live shows for a little over a year, all are veteran musicians; bassist Patricia “Kumbiadaver”, guitarrist Pila “Zombie” Jackson, and drummer “Inspector” also play in the Argentine queercore band the She Devils. Strumming the charango is accoustic punk musician Juana Chang, and lead singer Ali “Guaguanco” is a successful DJ and front-woman for Mexican dyke punk band the Ultrasonicas. In the past year, the Kumbia Queers have toured in both North and South America, and the 2007 video of their cover hit “La Isla con Chicas” was considered “Revelation of the Year” on YouTube and currently has over fifty thousand hits.

We sat down with the Kumbia Queers in Ali’s apartment in Colonia Doctores a few days after their packed show at the Centro Cultural España. Over a bottle of tequila we discussed their opinions about the difference between punk and cumbia, women in the music industry, and the meaning of the word queer.
